Those [Zimbra](http://www.zimbra.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) guys are so clever. [Via O'Reilly](http://radar.oreilly.com/archives/2006/04/ale%5Fajax%5Flinking%5Fand%5Fembedding.html?ref=chrismessina.me), [AJAX Linking and Embedding](http://www.zimbra.com/blog/archives/2006/04/zimbra%5Fale-ajax%5Flinking%5Fand%5Fembedding.html?ref=chrismessina.me) (ALE) "provides the ability to embed rich content into an editable document and to then interact with and edit that content in much the same way as it is done with traditional office suites and applications in a desktop environment. A key difference is that ... the embedded objects are AJAX components that are embedded into an editable HTML document." Download the [0.2 spec](http://www.zimbra.com/blog/archives/images/zimbra%5Fajax%5Flinking%5Fembedding%5F0.2.pdf?ref=chrismessina.me) and check out the [hosted demo](http://www.zimbra.com/preview?ref=chrismessina.me).
