[](http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/76716761/?ref=chrismessina.me)Well, if you want to bust your credibility, here's a hint. [Gossip](http://www.cooltechzone.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=2108&ref=chrismessina.me) about the world's [largest software manufacturer](http://microsoft.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) eating up a [smaller software company](http://opera.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) that [another](http://google.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) large (and growing) technology company [recently passed on](http://operawatch.blogspot.com/2005/12/rumor-google-to-buy-opera-according-to.html?ref=chrismessina.me)... *supposedly*. And *then* rescind your report when it [hits the top](http://tech.memeorandum.com/051223/p16?ref=chrismessina.me#a051223p16) of [Memeorandum](http://tech.memeorandum.com/?ref=chrismessina.me):

> **Update:** Opera recently confirmed that Microsoft has not approached the browser maker and there is no active acquistion deal between the two companies currently.
