Huh. Well, I was going to post this:

> If Yahoo! [were to acquire JOT](http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/05/10/rumor-yahoo-closed-jotspot-acquisition/?ref=chrismessina.me) I bet it would be Alex Russell and his [dojo](http://dojotoolkit.org/?ref=chrismessina.me)... given that they're working on a very slick [open source AJAX UI library](http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/?ref=chrismessina.me) (that's now in its [second beta release](http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-JG9noGk0aa9kLMDBru%5Fy9a2uxmo-?cq=1?p=183&ref=chrismessina.me)).

But then I just read that [Alex](http://alex.dojotoolkit.org/?ref=chrismessina.me) has [left JOT to work fulltime on Dojo](http://alex.dojotoolkit.org/?p=556&ref=chrismessina.me)! Whoa! Well, guess that could explain why the [acquisition *didn't* happen](gigaom.com/2006/05/11/jotspot-acquired-maybe-maybe-not/), eh? ;)

Yahoo has tons of great DHTML hackers and code (actually, like most big web companies, they've got more code than people who remember what it was written for). They'd be kinda silly to buy a company to get an open source toolkit they can use for free anyway. If anyone will be acquiring Jot, it would be for their amazing server-side platform, loyal customers, and the outstanding team that's making it the best thing for collaboration since stone tablets.

Ah, fair enough. Still, you do make for a spicy number! ;)
