[](http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/103699935/?ref=chrismessina.me)So we're about a week away from [Bar Camp Austin](http://upcoming.org/event/56330/?ref=chrismessina.me) and we've got a [rediculous event](http://barcamp.org/BarCampAustin?ref=chrismessina.me) in store for folks descending on Austin for SXSW. My buddy [William Hurley](http://blog.whurley.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) (of the [penguins](http://flickr.com/photos/whurleyvision/72665448/in/set-72057594056472814/?ref=chrismessina.me)) has been running amok, making plans and crackin' deals and schemin' like a madman. And he's all but good on getting everything set up but he's run into a bit of a snag: self-financing a whole Bar Camp is a bit... difficult. (Oh -- and we could also use some help getting some major bandwidth piped into the [venue](http://thistlecafe.com/?ref=chrismessina.me).) So what are we talkin' here? Well, as with most of the camps, we're trying to keep things extremely low cost. And obviously free for attendees. But [whurley's out about $1800](http://www.newmediamusings.com/blog/2006/02/%5Fsought%5Ffor%5Fbar.html?ref=chrismessina.me) for [printing posters](http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/106684821/?ref=chrismessina.me) and [badges](http://flickr.com/photos/whurleyvision/106947372/?ref=chrismessina.me), [t-shirts](http://flickr.com/photos/whurleyvision/106670859/?ref=chrismessina.me), [promoting](http://flickr.com/photos/whurleyvision/sets/72057594071576647/?ref=chrismessina.me) and renting shuttles and would like *lurve* any kind of pecuniary support folks are willing to contribute. Any amount will do; and we like to keep donations to $250 or less, unless you're sponsoring a round of drinks, a meal or some kind of service. So how can you help? Well, simple:

- [Donate](https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=%5Fxclick&business=paypal%40factorycity%2enet&no%5Fshipping=1&no%5Fnote=1&tax=0¤cy%5Fcode=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8&ref=chrismessina.me). Even 5 bucks helps. And I'll be listing all the donations we receive once the event is over (transparency in accounting, *absolutely!*).
- Join the [mailing list](http://groups.google.com/group/barcamp/?ref=chrismessina.me) and offer to pitch in -- I'm sure whurley's got ideas.
- Help us secure some sweet wifi action for the venue. We've got connectivity -- we just want to make sure it's up to snuff!
- Did I mention that you can [donate](https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=%5Fxclick&business=paypal%40factorycity%2enet&no%5Fshipping=1&no%5Fnote=1&tax=0¤cy%5Fcode=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8&ref=chrismessina.me)? ;)

Ok, I'm available to answer any questions or concerns you might have -- but I'm totally psyched about all the work that's gone into making this event happen and know that y'all'll [toss in some coin](https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=%5Fxclick&business=paypal%40factorycity%2enet&no%5Fshipping=1&no%5Fnote=1&tax=0&currency%5Fcode=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8&ref=chrismessina.me) to help out!
