...[Michael Arrington](http://www.techcrunch.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) apparently jumped the gun when he [blogged that a Firefox 2.0 alpha](http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/03/19/firefox-20-alpha-released/?ref=chrismessina.me) is [available.](http://www.bloggers.it/paolog/firefox/mozilla/web%5Fbrowser/firefox%5F20%5Falpha.htm?ref=chrismessina.me) According to Asa, [they'll announce it](http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/asa/archives/2006/03/releases%5F1.html?ref=chrismessina.me) when it's time. Still, useful comments in the Crunch Gallery from [Niall](http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/03/19/firefox-20-alpha-released/?ref=chrismessina.me#comment-21307) and [Leonard](http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/03/19/firefox-20-alpha-released/?ref=chrismessina.me#comment-21327), as well as a link to [2.0 feature overview](http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox2/StatusMeetings/2006-03-14?ref=chrismessina.me#Features). *And*, an insightful [demonstration](http://gigaom.com/2006/03/19/firefox-20-or-not/?ref=chrismessina.me) of *our* media (yes, we the bloggerati) to [self-correct](http://beta.amanzi.co.nz/2006/03/21/firefox-20-alpha-1-follow-up/?ref=chrismessina.me) and [expand](http://blogs.zdnet.com/web2explorer/?p=142&ref=chrismessina.me), given the discussion last night on media elitism at the monthly [Cybersalon](http://scripting.wordpress.com/2006/03/07/cybersalon-march-19-berkeley/?ref=chrismessina.me). Sorry [Andrew](http://aftertv.com/?ref=chrismessina.me), I just met you but I'm going to have to call bullshit on [your whole premise](http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/15/opinion/main1320641.shtml?ref=chrismessina.me). Blogs *are* the media (to invoke [Steve Gillmor](http://blogs.zdnet.com/Gillmor/?p=231&ref=chrismessina.me)) and y'know what? We don't need no fancy overhanging bureaucracy to ensure accountability or accuracy. We can handle it amongst ourselves thank you very much -- because unlike many of you in the old MSM, we won't sell out our audiences or dump crap on them because we can -- indeed, with so much choice and the ["millions and millions of blogs"](http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/15/opinion/main1320641.shtml?ref=chrismessina.me), it is a self-fulfilling prophecy that good content will emerge, will be attended to, will be corrected, reblogged, excoriated and made better through the process of mutual censure and examination. Realize finally that we are more than the media, that media is made to serve us, that if it fails to serve us, we will abandon it, route around it, find another way to connect and to communicate. So while Michael might have spoke too soon, the feedback loop that corrected his error is in effect for all of us who attempt to speak the truth, using media. And in that, never has there been a more open, transparent and robust form of media in the history of our civilization.
