[](http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/307231593/?ref=chrismessina.me)The [popular-cum-controversial](http://blog.xing.com/2006/09/dear%5Fmembers%5Fth.html?ref=chrismessina.me) professional networking site formerly-known as OpenBC recently [relaunched](http://blog.xing.com/2006/11/xing%5Fis%5Flive.html?ref=chrismessina.me) with a [new name](http://blog.xing.com/2006/09/ooops.html?ref=chrismessina.me) and [design](http://blog.xing.com/2006/09/xing%5Fpreview.html?ref=chrismessina.me) with wide support for [hCard](http://microformats.org/wiki/hcard?ref=chrismessina.me). [Tara](http://horsepigcow.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) first spoke with [Daniela](https://www.xing.com/profile/Daniela%5FHinrichs?ref=chrismessina.me) about implementing microformats ages ago and in follow up emails and blog posts, we [encouraged](http://factoryjoe.com/blog/2006/08/16/designing-the-business-card-20/?ref=chrismessina.me) and worked out various strategies (pro bono, mind you) around their microformats implementation. They've started basic with support for hCard and I hope that over time, they'll add support for [XFN](http://gmpg.org/xfn/?ref=chrismessina.me), [rel-tag](http://microformats.org/wiki/rel-tag?ref=chrismessina.me), [hCalendar](http://microformats.org/wiki/hCalendar?ref=chrismessina.me) and [hResume](http://microformats.org/wiki/hResume?ref=chrismessina.me). Various extensions and [web services](http://technorati.com/contacts?ref=chrismessina.me) can now [detect private contacts](http://blog.codeeg.com/tails-firefox-extension-03/?ref=chrismessina.me) in your XING account and [add them to your address book ](https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2240/?ref=chrismessina.me)or [perform additional functions](http://greasemonkey.makedatamakesense.com/callto%5Ftel/?ref=chrismessina.me). This work follows [LinkedIn](http://www.linkedin.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) [eventually](http://factoryjoe.com/blog/2006/09/09/linkedin-refreshes/?ref=chrismessina.me) [adding support for hCard and hResume](http://uk.techcrunch.com/?p=81&ref=chrismessina.me) — work that, just maybe, [we](http://citizenagency.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) had something to do with as well. ;) Hopefully XING's support of microformats will make [Sebastian](http://pixelsebi.com/?ref=chrismessina.me) happy for now, though it seems like he's [still a bit skeptical](http://pixelsebi.com/2006-11-21/ist-xing-wirklich-so-schlecht/?ref=chrismessina.me) (though Google Translate [didn't help me much](http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fpixelsebi.com%2F2006-11-21%2Fist-xing-wirklich-so-schlecht%2F&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ref=chrismessina.me) with his post).

Hehe - no it's a good article about XING - I wrote, that I am positivly suprised about the relaunch and that I like to use it. But I still say openBC instead of XING und I even don't cross my fingers to a "X", when I talk about it ;) But I promised, that I will do so, if they will implement more microformats than hCard :) That's a deal, isn't it?

\[...\] 4\. Lots of links next to each other. Another one I saw at Slashdot first. Excessive linking always meant as a joke, but there is often some humor with how the words connect to the material they are linking to. Chris Messina is one link-happy blogger who uses this technique a lot on his blog. Here are a few examples. \[...\]
