Tincan Terms of Use
Effective: [DATE — set at publication]
These terms govern your use of the Tincan iOS application ("Tincan"), made by Chris Messina.
1. What Tincan is
Tincan is a voice-messaging app that connects exactly two people through a shared iCloud container. It requires an Apple ID with iCloud enabled. Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's own terms.
2. Your content
You own the voice notes you record. By sending a note, you grant the one person your can is strung to the ability to play, keep, and delete their copy of it. Tincan claims no rights to your recordings and never accesses their contents beyond what is needed to store, transmit, transcribe (on device), and play them.
You are responsible for what you record and send. Don't use Tincan to harass, threaten, or record people without any consent your jurisdiction requires.
3. The beta
While Tincan is distributed through TestFlight it is beta software: features may change, break, or disappear, and data loss is possible despite best efforts. TestFlight builds expire; keep anything irreplaceable elsewhere.
4. No warranty
Tincan is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Your voice notes travel through Apple's iCloud; availability and durability of that infrastructure are outside our control.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chris Messina shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of Tincan, and total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app (currently: nothing).
6. Termination
You can stop using Tincan at any time by unstringing your can and deleting the app. We may discontinue the app or the beta at any time.
7. Changes
Updated terms will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
